IE&M Challenging Environment Experience
Innovative Engineering and Maintenance has many years of experience with a wide variety of projects for public utilities, water treatment facilities, maritime and private customers that require added safety precautions due to contact with black/gray water and other hazardous liquids. Below are a couple examples of projects completed within the last 12 months.
At a raw sewage pumping station, IE&M engineered, fabricated and installed a dam that sealed its main sewage pump suction knife-valves. Once the valves were sealed, the black water on the discharge side was pumped out, the area sanitized, and a drop-in scaffold system put in place, allowing us to replace the rubber seal of the knife-valves. All this was done while black water was rapidly flowing in the suction sewage channel located in an underground vault.
Another successful effort was where IE&M replaced a 12” gate valve and valve actuator for a sewage discharge pump. Pumps were located in a vault requiring air monitoring, confined space procedures and escape route planning. In this project, a raw water lifting pump was at the end of its service life and severely corroded. By entering the pump vault and raw water sump, IE&M safely uncoupled the motor and pump from its foundation and removed it from the vault. IE&M rebuilt the pump with a new shaft, tapered discharge body, discharge elbow, balanced impeller and rewound motor.
Innovative Engineering and Maintenance specializes with working in challenging environments where each job is different with unique sets of challenges and safety requirements. Safety is Always our Top Priority!
